Description | Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution
- Is Eligible for appropriate licensure for endorsement from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA is preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language services in assigned area
- Screen students for speech and language concerns
- Diagnose and assess specific speech or language concerns
- Refer to medical or other professionals when necessary for the habilitation of speech or language disorders
- Provide counseling and guidance to parents, students and teachers regarding speech and language disorders
- Formulate and implement IEPs and IFSPs to meet the student’s needs
- Meet special education compliance regulations
- Participate in school improvement initiatives as appropriate
- Compile data on students evaluated and/or served for reporting to assigned school districts and for local and state reporting
- Participate in pilot projects, research, program development, agency, department, and state committees
- Participate in and provide in-service activities for the AEA, for teachers, and for parents
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with school and agency personnel
- Provide guidance to and assist with evaluation of assigned Communications Paraprofessional
- Serve as a rotating member of Speech-Language Advisory Panel
