QUALIFICATION

  • EDUCATION: Master’s degree or higher in Educational Administration
  • LICENSURE:
    • Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Professional Administrator License
    • Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Evaluator Approval
  • EXPERIENCE:
    • Experience leading professional development, systems and educators is required
    • Experience as a curriculum director or principal preferred but not required

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

  • Enacts the PLAEA Strategic Plan and AEA Playbook to ensure continuous improvement toward the strategic directions and goals
  • Effectively leads change and the change process
  • Provides vision, leadership, coordination, long and short-term planning, supervision and evaluation for Education and Media Services including: School Improvement Facilitators, Specialists, Media and Education Services Chair as well as others as assigned
  • Exhibits sound knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment and media services. Collaborates with all PLAEA administrators to establish a strong and balanced core support system to districts, teachers and students served
  • Collaborates with PLAEA public and accredited schools to determine needs, areas of focus and support priorities
  • Collaborates with the Director of Special Education and Professional Development Facilitator to ensure a comprehensive, robust and quality internal and external professional development program exists
  • Facilitates Curriculum Network
  • Co-facilitates Systems Leadership Team and Collaborative Team Development Team with the Special Education Consultant chair and School Improvement Facilitator chair
  • Leads program evaluations to determine effectiveness of services and develops action plans to improve areas of responsibility
  • Collaborates with the Chief Administrator and Chief Financial Officer/Human Resources Director in the development, implementation and evaluation of budgetary, fiscal and personnel practices to ensure that resources support the vision and priorities of PLAEA
  • Ensures all education and media services comply with state and federal laws as well as PLAEA policy
  • Addresses state and federal accountability requirements and submits assigned reports
  • Represents PLAEA on AEA Educational Director team and as well as assigned statewide committees

  • Problem solves by utilizing data-based decisions, preventing and resolving conflicts and providing comprehensive, high quality solutions
  • Works with integrity and maintains confidentiality
  • Models and integrates technology into daily work
  • Leads professional development for at least one course, internally, externally or both
  • Understands other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, according to current needs of the agency or districts served

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to travel between schools and sites served
  • Ability to provide in-person services in a variety of settings: one-on-one, small group and large group
  • Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking. May also involve above average levels of activity, at times, that cannot always be anticipated

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Personal transportation required for in-area and in-state travel
  • Some overnight travel may be required
