QUALIFICATION

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist Special Education teacher in implementing the educational program for students in a juvenile home classroom
• Work cooperatively with AEA staff and parents for the benefit of the student
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with students
• Act in the best interest of the student in handling situations that arise
• Assist Special Education teacher by reporting student progress and problems
• Perform work processing and clerical duties as assigned
• Attend staff meetings as needed
• Seek information and learning opportunities related to job

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Ability to travel between schools and sites served
• Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking, and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can’t always be anticipated
